By Josie Emanuelli

This past week Drew played two significant Landmark Conference matches, one Saturday against the Catholic University of America during which they celebrated their senior day and one Wednesday against Moravian College. The Rangers beat CUA 1-0, and tied Moravian 0-0 in double overtime.

During their Senior Day Celebration, Dylan Hammer (’17) scored the lone goal of the contest, bringing his goal tally to six for the season. He also tried three shots on goal throughout the contest. Andy Imoh (’20) helped to maintain offensive pressure throughout the game, helping the Rangers maintain possession for most of the game.  In addition to their goal, the Rangers tried a total of 12 shots, six of which were on goal. Catholic only tried four shots, one of which was on goal. Goalkeeper John Marques (’17) earned another shutout this season.

In their second Landmark Conference match of the week, the Rangers tied Moravian College 0-0 after 110 minutes of play through two overtimes. This is their second tie in the Landmark Conference, bringing their record to 9-4-3 overall and 3-1-2 in the Landmark. This adds pressure to their upcoming game against Goucher on Saturday, October 29. If they win or tie the match, they secure their spot in the postseason. The two teams were evenly matched as they took 13 shots, four of them which were on goal to the Greyhound’s nine shots, three of which were on goal. Senior goalkeeper John Marques (’17) secured his sixth shutout of the season. Throughout the contest, several Rangers took shots on goal including with forward Andy Imoh (’20)  and Eduardo Martinez (’18)  adding two shots along Dylan Hammer (’17) adding three shots, the highest for the team. Benjamin Audi (’18) had one of the most significant scoring opportunities of the game, as his header hit the crossbar of the goal in the 72 minute.

The Rangers have no more home games scheduled for this semester, as they are looking to secure a spot and ranking in the postseason.
