During a busy opening weekend, the men’s and women’s cross country teams stepped off in their first race at the Monmouth Kick-Off at Thompson Park in Lincroft, NJ. The teams raced against several Division I teams in the contest, and both placed seventh in their respective competitions. This was the team’s first race under new Head Coach Zach Mower.
The men’s team was lead by standout Christian Parenti (‘19) setting the pace after crossing the line in 22:58.8 for the 6,000 meter race. This time was good for 34th in the overall race.
Anatole Colbert (‘19) was close behind his teammate, finishing in just 24:12.6, earning him a 38th place finish. Nicholas Smale (‘21) finished 42nd with Kyle Majid (‘19) finishing just behind him in 43rd place. Tiago dos Santos (‘18) was not far behind, finishing in 45th.
The women’s team saw Mollie Ankrom (‘21) cross the line first, finishing her 4,000 meter race in 18:13.4. This was the rookie’s first collegiate race. She was closely followed by her teammate Lisa Rojas (‘18) who finished 18:13.4. They placed 38th and 39th overall, respectively.
The other Rangers all finished together, with Violet Kimble (‘21) coming in 45th, Zoe Camp (‘18) coming in 46th, Emily Rosales (‘19) taking 47th and Paula Lopez (‘20) rounding out the team with a 48th place finish. They all finished within six minutes of each other.
The team races again this Saturday, September 9, at the Juniata Cross Country Invitational.
