With a total of 24 points, the Drew University equestrian team concluded their fall season on Saturday, November 19 at the Stevens Horse Show. The group had a solid outing, finishing fourth in the team standings, missing the podium by only a single point to Marist.

Just as she had been three times before this season, Hannah Young (‘21), one of the promising freshmen on the Rangers, was named Reserve High Point Rider, taking first in Novice Flat aboard Harmony and fifth in Novice Fences on Paramore.

Carli Gentile (‘18), team captain, led the rest of the Rangers as she rode Ebay to fourth place as the point rider for the Rangers in Intermediate Fences. Abby Staskel (‘19) managed to steal the third place spot in the Open Flat on Roxette, and followed with a fourth place performance in Open Fences aboard George.

Catherine Tamburri (‘20), followed up on her strong qualifying efforts for Regionals in Novice Fences last week with a sixth-place finish in Intermediate Fences while riding Oriano.

Michelle Verwaay (‘21) secured third place on the podium in the Novice Flat event aboard Maestro, and also managed to secure fourth-place aboard Amigo in the Novice Fences event.

Rounding out the overall performance, Claudia Payor (‘19) had both a fourth place showing in Open Flat aboard Buddy and added a fifth-place showing with Ebay in Open Fences. Kristen Gagliano (‘20) took fourth in Beginner Walk Trot Canter riding Chester, and Kaitlin Hofer (‘21) took fifth in Intermediate Flat aboard Roxette.

Centenary ended up first in the overall team standings, finishing the event with a tally of 42 points, 9 higher than the second-place team, William Paterson. In third-place, Marist was the last team to make the podium.

The Rangers are scheduled to start their spring season in exciting fashion on February 18, competing in the IHSA All Region Show at the Crosswinds Equestrian Center. The team is hoping to capitalize on what was a consistently brilliant fall season.
