All good things must come to an end, and so it is that the Ranger’s soccer season is over. But, not after a great run by Coach Lenny Armuth and his team as they came within just two games of playing for the National Title. It was against Brandeis that the Drew men’s soccer team would be shut out for just the second time all season. It was their first and only loss of the year, but it was enough to boot them out of contention for the National Title game.
Even though the Rangers did not win the whole enchilada, they still had a season for the record books. Coach Lenny Armuth was named Coach of the Year by the Landmark Conference and six of his players; Goalie Jason Adamo (C ‘20), Max Correa (C ‘19), Andy Imoh (C ‘20), Niko Cserhat (C ‘19), Aidan Cserhat (C ‘20), and Eduardo Martinez (C ‘18) would go on to be named First Team all Landmark Conference. It was the Cserhat brothers Niko and Aidan racking up the awards as Niko was named Landmark defensive and Aidan named Landmark offensive players of the year. Aidan would also be named to the first team All-Region, first team All-ECAC and first team All-America, the second player in program history to earn this distinction; the other player was Peter Boyer who was named to the team in 2003. On top of all these individual awards, the Rangers went undefeated throughout their season and won the Landmark Conference.
When asked about all the success his team enjoyed this year Coach Lenny Armuth praised his seniors and ended his thoughts with, “just wait ‘til next year.” Well Coach the wait is on and we are excited to see what’s in store.
